A gangster action drama directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-wrote the script with Kamal Haasan. The film stars Haasan himself, alongside Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George and Vaiyapuri. It signifies the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam, after their previous film Nayakan (1987). The film's music is composed by renowned composer A. R. Rahman.
